Is this your cup of tea?
Here is the prince charming, ladies were looking for. Rich, handsome, educated and with a five-star salary. But he has some demands. Read them and see, if he's your cup of tea.

'An image of my future wife,' by the prospective groom (mentioned above):

She should have everlasting beauty
and a flawless figure;
a complexion, so fair,
as if a milky river.

Brains, she should have some;
but not more than me.
She should love me through all seasons
And praise me without reasons.

She should have a fat, paternal property;
and a heavy dowry to her credit.
If you are this girl, then get in touch;
or else, forget it.

*******************

She is the woman every man dreams about-beautiful, fair skinned; a Cinderella in every respect. But there are some requirements that she seeks in her man. So, hear her words and decide. If you fit the bill, then fill the form.

According to her list...

For him, being handsome is must.
If he fails on that ground;
Then for that, a fat bank balance should adjust.

He should always listen, and never speak over me.
If he succeeds in this department,
then a perfect husband, he would be.

He should consider me his goddess,
and shower me with gifts;
with more dedication everyday, and not less.

If you have all these qualities in you,
then don't delay, come soon;
for I have other suitors, waiting in a queue.

Hey we don't ask for dowry nor the property with her dad. Its only our mom and dad that asks dowry. Cute poems though. [Claps Claps]

Hi,
I do not have any plans to drink that cup of tea for the next 3 or 4 years... :).
So no comments about it...

Hey Nice blog... I liked the layout...

oh my good nesss.. what an list .. i am dwelling in your thinking you should send this to craigs column of the Hindu - on saturdays there is a column in which a article on HE says and She says gets published.

check hinduonline.com and saturday metro plus. you have all the qalitites to become the editor of that column

hi manoj, i guess u must be really rich, handsome and, pardon me eccentric, if u feel that the guy in the poem is u. there is no mention of moms or dads in the poem, it is the guy himself specifying his demands. but ur reaction makes me wonder-(guilty conscious, eh? heheh, dont worry, just kidding) thanks for the claps!

hi kitchenette soul,
welcome to my blog. nice name u ve got here, do u like to cook or like to spend ur time mostly in the kitchen? joking again! so tell me, are u seeking any of the 'mirages?'

Hi brownstone,

wish u a very happy bengali new year again. hope u had loads of fun. thanks for ur new year wishes. by the way, is brownie ur nickname?

hi abru,

i hope nobody has to drink such a cup of tea unwillingly. ur wise to avoid it, though i am none to judge or pass comments. i guess ur are right in this case, no comments on my behalf too!

hi known stranger,

thanks for dropping by. thanks for all those kind compliments. i know about that hindu column ur talking about. while i was doing my journalism course, we read the hindu day and night.

being an editor, sounds good! thanks for that thought, but seriously, i would love to edit something more news worthy, dont u think? thanks for ur compliment anyways, though i am not all that great.

Dear Amrita,
nice poems...I am actually a certified verse-mangler...lol

I dunno...most of these matrimonial ads look like specifications for some machines and not profiles of living beings who are to live together...
hmm...Vasudeva-Krishna is probably laughing at humans because of their silly approach to life...

nice post though..what inspired it? if I may ask...

SARVAM SRIKRISHNAARPANAMASTHU!

Hi anand,

thats really interesting to know, i have never heard of any verse-mangler before. but i must really appreciate your devotion.

thats something new i heard- "matrimonial ads look like specifications for some machines and not profiles of living beings who are to live together."

Well, u are right and as u can guess it is a mockery of ppl who tend to think in this manner. today, the world is a materialistic one and most of us think only about ourselves. I really wonder at times how can man be so selfish. I would not say that I am a very selfless person, but there are ppl who would do everything and anything to have their way, who only look at their own benefit and pleasure and nothing else. there was no as such inspiration for the post. i keep glancing through the newspapers everyday and u get to see specifications for 'machines'( as u call them) in matrimonial columns matching with those of the prospective bride and groom, in this post. it was meant to be a satire on such demands. this is my way of portraying this issue, though there are many fellow bloggers who have written serious posts on this. thanks for coming.

Amrita..

Hi...thanx for ur poila baishak wishes...when I land on ur blog today got surprised to see ur new template....my opinion?!?
last one is very innovative..

cheers..

Amrita,
Nice poems!!! and Kind of funny too. I thought I might have entered into a wrong blog when I saw the newly designed one....

hi roy,

nice to have u back again, happy poila baishakh to u too again. the template which is there on the blog at present attracted me a lot when i saw it, due to some strange reason. so i have put it on, but then lets see, i might go back to innovation.

hi girl interrupted,

haha, no dear u ve come to the the Thinker's blog. so, whats ur opinion on the newly designed blog.

_____________________

Hi,
Nice poem......bt this is not always true. U know whn u fall in love, u may ignore most of the things, u stated above.
Bt we can dream abt tht. by the way, nice blog.
njoy n keep blogging.........

hey new template.. Its nice but I liked the previous one better yaar... It was like u r getting free...

On ur post, well sometimes both men and women can have demands which seem irritating and senseless.. Its upto the other person to decide.. but sometimes its better that they tell out in the beginning.. its better na.. what if they start demanding from each other later...

_____________________

hi santosh, welcome to my blog. ur right that when ppl fall in love (truly in love, ofcourse), they dont care much about all the things I wrote on. But my post is not on ppl who are opting for a love marriage as u can guess. its a hardcore 'arranged' ceremony that they are opting for. thanks for ur compliments.

hi art, hmm..thanks for ur view on my new template, i ve already started thinking...

i agree that ppl should be straightforward in reflecting their feelings. but here, the boy and girl in my post are not exactly normal or ordinary as u see. they think they are endowed with special qualities, and think that they deserve something that can match up to their beauty, brains and power. yes, it is a post on ppl who put forth ludicrous demands before entering into a matrimonial bond.

Nice template.
Poem is fitting for the time when many people are counting only on materialistics than on wider dimension of humanity.

I like your writing a lot. Great work on arranged marriage alliance seekers! BTW I saw that you had mentioned your interest in sketching in a fellow blogger's comment secion - any chance that you are thinking of posting your sketches?

hi back nigeria, welcome to my blog, am glad that u liked the template. yes, the poems are meant to be a satire on the materialistic nature of ppl nowdays. glad u liked it.

hi arvindh,

welcome to my blog, thanks for ur compliments, though i am not all that good. i just write down whatever i think on. hmm..yes, i am interested in sketching and drawing. but i dont know how good they are. lets see, i might post them someday. thanks for coming anyways.

Amrita..

Hi...baap re baap, complicated way to expect...

here one good one liner "the most succesfuul husband is one who earns more than his wife can spend & the most succesful wife is one who finds someone like him"..

all the best for ur journey to find HIM:)
Roy

_____________________

Dear Amrita,
I guess I am just being circumspect when I say matrimonial ads look like specifications for machines...granting that arranged marriages are here to stay...it would be much better if people stopped putting up facts like height, complexion, salary etc and instead put up their Jung types (lol) or some such psychological profile for finding a compatible partner...in fact genderidentity tests are quite important...those who strongly identify with their sex roles (like I AM A MAN...or I AM A WOMAN ) tend to make lousy husbnads/wives.
a balanced gender focus is said to be the key for a healthy relationship...

yup..I like psychology...

all the best, (echoing Mr.Roy's sentiments)...

(btw I thought HIM meant the Lord or SriKrishna or the Supreme , whatever you may believe in..lol)

anyway, have a nice day

SARVAM SRIKRISHNAARPANAMASTHU!

_____________________

hi roy, welcome back and that was a good one liner, though i would not like to find the "HIM" that u talk about. for me i would be successful if i spend as much as i want to, provided it is the money i have earned on my own. mostly women who are dependent on their husbands, have to tolerate their taunts as well, which should not be the case. but thanks a lot for ur best wishes. hmm..wish u all the luck as well. are u a taker for the lady in the post? :)

_____________________

hi anand,

welcome back to u too, hmm...i agree arranged marriages are here to stay, specially in the indian society.

i must really praise u for all those innovative views u come up with. genderindentity test-now who had thought of that. the thing that u talk after that about-I AM A MAN and I AM A WOMAN, well, those are the most extreme expressions of male chauvinism and female feminism (nice alliteration eh! just kidding!). that should not be the case in a matrimonial bond.

hmm, psychological profile-sounds interesting. i also like psychology as a subject, what interests me the most is freudian psychology.

thanks for ur good wishes, wish the u the same (incase ur not married yet). I know why u felt about Lord Krishna when Roy said HIM, i remember back in college we had lectures where Christ was referred to as HIM as well.

nice day to u too.

Dear Amrita,
thanks...as for Herr Freud...I prefer Carl Gustav Jung...Jung offer a more holistic theory...and Freud seems to come dangerously close to demeaning human existence...besides I am more interested in Cognitive Science.

I read your previous post on your best friends...it was something I could relate to...in fact my relationship with a former friend of mine was so utopian and platonic that people practically regarded us as fraternal twins..once we passed out of school differences started creeping up and in a matter of two years we went from brothers to total strangers...

nope I am not married. I am 21 yrs old and am at present working in an e-learning company. My focus is on getting back to academics and working for a Ph.D in Cognitive Science or some allied interdicsiplinary field. I also wish to write (blogging is sure useful for us wannabe writers)fiction for sci-fi afficionados and for children...as for marriage it will certainly happen but my intuition tells me that it will happen in another ten years time, when I am well over 30.

Let's see where Vasudeva-Krishna takes me...I am sure He is the Best Friend Philosopher and Guide I can have!

All the best to you...

Hey Nice template..great to look at! :) all fresh fresh!!..and yes, this poem sounds like those matri column ads in newspapers and websites! :D

Nice template there amrita...

As for the post... NO COMMENTS.... ha ha.

This time I am gonna complain abt the font size :)

_____________________

hi anand,

hmm..jung too is interesting and so is kafka. i think the greatest of all is plato. i agree that certain topics that freud talks about, justifies your observation of his works and thoughtline. but what i am especially interested in is his interpretation of dreams, i am sure u must have heard or read it. i find it a very intriguing piece of work. what works behind our dreams and why do we dream about certain things, i really find all that interesting.

ok, ur only 21! i must appreciate your devotion to 'HIM' (you know whom i mean) and the your indulgence in spiritual discourse. few ppl delve in these things at this stage in life. as for marriage, all the best for future. all the best for ur PHD too.and yes, thanks a lot for ur best wishes.

SARVAM SRIKRISHNAARPANAMASTHU!:)

hi anu, what a pleasant surprise. yes template changed, glad u liked it. about the post, well, no point asking u now whether ur a taker or not, tk care. :D

hi 1.618,

hmm..glad u liked the template. that 'NO COMMENTS' made me think...but anyways, forget it. hahaha, about the font size, i think earlier it was smaller, no?

What?!
Why?!
Who?!
When?!
What happenned to that template?
Ooooh that went sooo well with your type of content. This one's like the website of Alien Vs. Predator Part III. Well... sorry if it was a bit hard but if i were you i'd choose a softer template for such content, but am not you, no? YOU are you. So all the best with the new template. If you thought readability was an issue, it is an issue here too. Use a brighter color for the text. The text is too out of contrast with the background.

_____________________

Oh you are in the media field!? Am surprised you disregarded this contrast issue!

_____________________

hi manoj,

ur free to pass a comment, until its not a slang or an abuse.:) ur not the only one who expressed his preference for the earlier template. the only difference is that u are very critical whereas others are not. dont worry, i am not upset or anything, everyone is free to express his/her own will. as far as the content is concerned; hmm...if i am allowed to say this, then i would say that most blogs have a softer content as it is a space where ppl note down their personal experiences or other events of their own life or perhaps, general issues like i do. there are very few specialised blogs, technical about its content. hmm...i felt that it was a very reflective and different looking template, i must admit ur innovative in thinking that it resembles the website of Alien Vs. Predator Part III. that did not come to my mind when i chose this template.

as far as the readability issue is concerned, i personally feel that the white text should go well with a dark background rather than a darker text. but i will look to what u suggested. i guess 1.618 had commented on the font size. i will see to all those aspects soon. anyways, thanks for your opinion.

_____________________

no no nooooooo. You understood the text color comment wrong. I meant the text should be whiter. The text is grey now. We need more white please.

Since you gave me more freedom, i'd like to suggest a pleasant bright blue sky with clouds background. And plain black 95% sized fonts. And no, a plain text title is not attractive nor is it expressive. Do something fancy.

And i also have this thing against these pre-designed blog templates. They are fixed. I have a 1152x864 resolution monitor and in these templates only 70 percent of my monitor is used the rest stays empty. If you are a technical person, you sh'd tweek the template so it utilizes the entire screen no matter what the resolution/size is. It'll give your blog a nice, complete look. Also it'll save some vertical scroll.

No. No matter what you say, this template doesn't suit you. It doesn't even suit your name. Say amrita as you look at that blog. You'll know what i mean.

_____________________

Well i found this template. And thought of suggesting it to you.

Hey post some pics of ur sketches dear..

Amrita ....

Hi, So you wanna know whether I’d like to take the girl on the post or not?!?!
umm ……ummmm…ummmmmmm……ummmmmmmmmmmmm.....One confusion!!

She says that HE should be HANDsome!!She doesn’t specify here ....“some” means how many HAND,`coz I have only 2 HANDs!!!

And most important, as per the FAT bank balance is concern, my bank balance is FAT..yeah!! But I always love to add the letter “L” in all those things which I love most...that’s why my bank balane sound FLAT.....

Now inform these 2 factors to the girl on the post, are these ok for her?!?!

Hv a nice time in passing the information...
Roy

Dear Amrita,
thanks for your wishes...

Plato ..I haven't actually found him quite interesting...I am aware of Freud's interpreation of dreams but I am not sure whether it is the last word on the subject...psychoanalysis is often discredited because it doesn't meet Karl Popper's famous criterion that states tha a scientific theory must be falsifiable. However I would place my bets on Jung for his conecpts appear to have relevance even from the vedantic point of view.
I am quite fond of J.Krishnamurthy but that doesn't stop me from looking for the truth on my own terms...

so have a nice day...

hi manoj, thanks for all that advice, makes a lot more sense now.

hi art,

hmm...i am not great at drawing or anything. i just have rough sketches, more like cartoon drawing.

hi anand,

i must say u read a lot. i am not so well read, as i have not read each and everyone of them.

hi ashok,

thanks for ur compliments.

Aowww. :( The old one again? What happened to the bright blue sky with clouds and plain black text? Even in this template, it'd be nice if i can see the names of the commenter in the item-page.

wow!!! so happy to see the new template :)
Well post the pics of those sketches :)

_____________________

hi manoj, yes, i am back to the old one.ur suggestion was a good one but when i spelled my name and looked into this one; i could relate to it better. not that i could not relate to the latest one (Alien vs Predator template, as u call it); but then i decided to switch back to this one.

names of commenter in the item page, that requires some template changes, i ve to figure it all out. for now i would just say-patience is a virtue!

Hi roy,

i have passed over ur message to the lady, but it seems she's too busy with her queue of suitors, u know how these females are, right? :)

hi art,

thanks for ur compliments, i will try and post some sketches later. thanks for dropping by. :)
